Milwaukee

Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin with alsmot 600,000 inhabitants. Located right on Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is known for its brewery and the Harley Davidson Museum. If you’re wondering what to do in town, check out my 8 must-try activities! On top of those, you can explore one of the several trails right in the city. Here are some of my favorites:

Milwaukee Nature Trail

For anyone who loves trail, is in the city, and prefers to find something unpaved, I have the perfect section for you!

I love trail running on this trail whenever I stay in Milwaukee. It starts on the corner of W. Hampton Ave and N. Port Washington Rd, on the northwest corner of Estabrook Park, and goes right alongside the Milwaukee River and you can go all the way to North Ave on an unpaved trail. You’ll go through Estabrook Park, Hubbard Park, and Riverside Park (past the Urban Ecology Center where you can find the East Bank Trail.)

It’s beautiful in all seasons and is a good way to get away from the hustle and bustle… and the pavement!

And if you need ideas on where to eat after your exploration of the trail, check out this page for recommendations!

Beerline Trail

The Beerline Trail is a paved trail starting in Glendale, just north of Milwaukee, going south winding through the Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods. It is built on the route of a former railroad line which used to transport beer, hence the name. Therefore, it is mostly flat.

Nowadays, you can admire sculptures along the way, and there are many events organized throughout the year.

At the corner of Bremen and Burleigh, don’t forget to check out Cafe Corazón for some delicious Mexican food!

And if you continue south to the intersection of E. Locust St and Humboldt Blvd, you can find a continuation of the paved trail through Gordon Park that will follow the Milwaukee River and lead you to downtown. If you go this way and want to stop by for something to eat… check out the Beerline Café!

For more info on events on the trail, check out the Beerline Trail official website!
