Dundee

North of Edinburgh, where the Tay river meets the North Sea, Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland but doesn’t feel like it and has a cute little downtown. The riverfront is a good place to walk starting near the V&A museum (first design museum in Scotland). If you’re curious about the town, check out this video!

But back to food: there are several places where you can eat vegan downtown, and here are my favorites, organized alphabetically:

The Bach

A great brunch place with many vegan options located just behind the McManus. The local is quite big and beautiful, lots of light through very large windows.

Pictured here is the avocado toast: I loved the crunchiness of the chickpeas next to the creamy avocado and the soft mushrooms.

Lots of dessert options, including a chocolate stout cake… because, even if the posters inside are all about New Zealand, it’s Scotland after all!

Serendipities

This adorable little café with its adorable staff is 100% vegan and located downtown.

Pictured here are the “cheese toastie” and the mac and cheese and the soup of the day.

The desserts looked delicious but we were pretty full. If you have dessert there, let me know how they are!

Rad Apples

This independent vegan café has burgers and fries (including vegan poutine) but I went for the desserts (although the fries were very crispy and tasty): I hadn’t had apple pie in a long time but was pleasantly reminded of how delicious it can be.

Served hot with a scoop of vegan ice cream and caramel drizzle, The Rad Apple Pie made me melt!
