Edinburgh

Probably the most famous city in Scotland, and for a reason. This gorgeous city is meant to be walked, and after walking so much, you need to eat! Here were my two favorite restaurants in Edinburgh.

  • Rocksalt Café

  • Maki & Ramen

Rocksalt Café

The Jeffrey Street location is near the Waverley train station (on the southern side), so if you arrive in town around lunch time, this is perfect option! There are quite a few options labeled vegan on the menu, like the vegan avocado toast or, pictured here, the falafel wrap (delicious!) and the vegan salad platter which I must admit was very refreshing, both in taste and as an option that is not quite a sandwich but more filling than a salad.

The place is cute, the hot drinks are good and the staff is friendly!

Consider this restaurant as a stop to fuel up before hiking Arthur’s seat, or to recoup after the hike!

Check out their website for more info.

Maki & ramen

This small Asian restaurant is part of a chain with locations over town. The Leith St location is really cute and has post it notes for you to draw on and pin on the walls: a cool activity while you wait for your food!

They have a separate page in their menu for vegan entrées and many sides labeled v for vegetarian are also vegan.

Pictured here from top to bottom are the yasai gyosa, the pumpkin roquette and the vegan black garlic tonkotsu: everything was absolutely delicious!
