Rincón

Located on the West Coast, Rincón is a small town full of surfers and families enjoying the beaches nearby. The Plaza principal is pretty small, but there are many restaurants around it, and on the road that leads to the closest beach.

I was happily surprised to find many vegan options there!

Puerto Burrito

Just behind the Plaza is Puerto Burrito, offering burritos and more! It’s a small place with only three tables and several stools at a long table against the wall.

They have three kinds of rice, several vegan toppings including black beans and plantains, to make your own meal. You can have a burrito or a bowl, nachos and tacos…

It was good and inexpensive!

Café 413

Located right on the Plaza, Café 413 is a large restaurant with several items marked vegan on the menu, and a few more that would be vegan without cheese. They have salads, sandwiches, vegan cookies… and delicious fruit smoothies!

Pictured here are the vegan desserts of the day, a passion fruit smoothie, the Mediterranean sandwich with fries, the Veggie sandwich with fries, and the tofu breakfast. Many items marked vegetarian on the menu are actually vegan.

They also offer a variety of coffee drinks.

Service was a little slow, because the place was very busy, but the staff was friendly.

Kafe Terra

Located right on the Plaza, on Calle Progresso, Kafe Terra has a vegan delicious avocado toast! The portion is generous, with four small squares the size of regular toast… but on a really tasty focaccia bread. If you can share with someone, do so! This avocado toast is $13.

The coffee drinks were really good too, although oat milk is an extra $1.25, which is a lot.

There is quite a bit of sun on the outdoor patio in the morning, but there are several tables inside if the heat gets to be too much, and the background music is not too loud (which I have found can be a problem in Puerto Rico).

Roots

If you miss spicy food, check out Roots! Puerto Rican food in general is not spicy at all, so I was happy to have something with a quick.

The coconut curry at Roots is spicy and quite good, although I wish it had had more veggies.

The space is quite large, the mojito was very good, the margarita a little too strong, and service was slow, but I was happy with this asian food option in Rincón.

Paletados

Just steps from the Plaza, Paletados has an amazing array of vegan sorbets with tropical flavors like Passion Fruit, Açai and more!

The place is often busy, so don’t be surprised if you see a line outside. There are some tables to sit inside, but many people take their ice cream to go and eat it while wandering the plaza.
